. световни ски новини : Daiki Ito wins again - Strong Polish team - 18 Август 2010 - 22:58

SKI JUMPING, Summer Grand Prix Einsiedeln -- Daiki Ito captured the victory in a competition in Einsiedeln that was influenced by the difficult wind conditions. The Japanese, who already won in Courchevel, won after one round only with a great jump on 116 m (138.4 points). The second place went to Adam Malysz with 136.7 points and 111 m. With Maciej Kot (130.1 points) another member of the strong Polish team landed on the podium.

"It was very windy today. so maybe it was not a very fair competition and I'm glad that the second round was cancelled. Of course I'm very happy, but I'll train more in the future and I will do my best also next time. I will take part in the competitions in Wisla and Hakuba and then I will stay in Japan to get prepared for the winter", Ito explained his plans.

First podium result for Kot

I'm satisfied with the second place because my two jumps yesterday were not that good. The jump today in the competition was not one of my best, but it was pretty good. Maybe the competition today was even more difficult than the cancelled qualification yesterday", said Malysz. "It's great for me to be here. It was the first podium finish of my career and I also won the qualification. That's why it was a great day for me", told Maciej Kot.

Dawid Kubacki completed the great team result for Poland as seventh. The best Norwegian at the moment, Tom Hilde, finished fourth. With Kalle Keituri (5th) and harri Olli (6th) two Finns were in the Top 10.

Very bad conditions for Morgenstern

Thomas Morgenstern from Austria, who was the overall leader of the Summer GP, had to jump under very bad conditions. He had no chance to achieve top result, but thanks to the new wind-factor he got additional points and could still finish 14th with 99 m. "It was a strange story today. The challenge is not to worry too much about it. I thought that my jump was good, but it wasn't far. That can happen in winter all the time so I consider this a training for how to deal with difficult conditions", said Morgenstern

In general, the competition was characterized by many breaks caused by the wind and many athletes suffered under the changing conditions. For example, Bjoern Einar Romoeren could not qualify for the competition due to a wind gust.

Kuettel out on "his" hill

Simon Ammann was eighth. The Swiss still has a training deficit and jumps with old equipment. On the Andreas-Kuettel-Hill the local hero and name giver missed to qualify for the competition. World Champion Kuettel is not to be envied at the moment.

Freund best German

Of the German team Severin Freund showed a convincing performance and came in tenth, folled by Michael Neumayer. Martin Schmitt was only 39th and is, just like Robert Kranjec (43rd), not able to compete on the highest level right now.

Vladimir Zografski from Bulgaria, who surprised as fifth in Courchevel, spared his strength and did not take part.

After this victory, Daiki Ito is now in the lead of the FIS GP overall ranking. The 24-year-old scored 240 points in three competiitons. Malysz (230 points) is not far behind. Poland clearly leads in the Nation's Cup ranking. The work of head coach Lukasz Kruczek is really bearing fruit this summer.
