Due to the difficult wind conditions at the Midtstubakken in Oslo, that already caused some delays on the first day there, it was decided to use the new compensation mode with the wind factor in the second event.

Bjoern Einar Romoeren (NOR)

The victory in this competition went to Bjoern Einar Romoeren. The world record holder was second after the first round with 103 m, the longest jump of the day on 106.5 m then brought him the victory in his hometown with a total of 252.8 points.

Junior World Champion Michael Hayboeck (AUT), fourth after the first round, moved up to the second place with 103.5 m in the final but he was already 14 points behind the winner. Jure Sinkovec was third with 233.9 points (100.5 m / 103.5 m) and achieved his best result in a COC since over two years.

Czech Antonin Hajek was in the lead after the first round, but after only 94 m in the final he could finish only seventh. In opposite to the first competition where he clearly missed to qualify for the second round, Andreas Kuettel presented himself better and was 13th.

With 88 participants many jumpers can't make it to the final of the Top 30 and, once again, there were some well known athletes among them. Like Anders Jacobsen, Vincent Descombes Sevoie and the overall winner of last winter's COC, David Unterberger.

Statements:

Bjoern Einar Romoeren: "It felt good winning here today. I trained very well this summer, but I struggled a bit lately. Therefore it was fun to jump like I did today. The jump in the final was good, the one in the first round was also okay."

Michael Hayboeck: "I wanted to do better than yesterday. I tried to jump the way I did in the trial round and that was successful. Today's competition was also fairer because the new rules with the wind-factor applied."

Jure Sinkovec: "I felt good today. Finally I'm back. I worked very hard for this competition and I'm satisfied with the way I jumped here. The conditions were also much better than in Lillehammer last weekend."

Sliz with hill record to victory

The first competition was won by Rafal Sliz. The Pole used a phase of good wind conditions in the first round to jump on the new hill record of 108.5 m. In the final round 97 m were enough for him to secure the victory with 256.5 points.

18-year-old Austrian Thomas Diethart landed on the second place with 104.5 m and 96.5 m (253.0 points). Lukas Hlava from the Czech Republic was third with 250.5 points (104 m / 97 m).

Best of the hosting team was Andreas Stjernen who moved up from eleventh to fifth in the second round. And although the whole Norwegian World Cup team participated they could only place one more athlete in the Top 10 with Tom Hilde as seventh.

Statements:

Rafal Sliz: "I had a really good jump in the first round with a perfect take-off. The hill record is a bonus. The final round was disappointing under bad conditions, but fortunately it was enough to win."

Thomas Diethart: "The second place is like a victory for me. I couldn't catch up with the leader after the first round but I gained self-confidence. That will be useful in the fight for a place on the Austrian team for the World Championships."

The Continental Cup will continue on September 25th and 26th with two competitions in Almaty (KAZ).
