ALPINE SKI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS SHCLADMING 2013. On Sunday, 10th February, the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Schladming did not focus only on gold, silver or bronze, but on a truly charitable cause. The “Charity Race” in support of Österreichische Sporthilfe and FIS partner charity “Right to Play” was held immediately after the ladies’ downhill on the bottom part of the racing hill. In front of thousands of spectators on-site, twenty teams, lined up to start, each with a ski legend, including Franz Klammer, Harti Weirather, Bernhard Russi, Janica Kostelic, Luc Alphand, Didier Cuche and Pernilla Wiberg.

The greatest winners of the event were certainly the charities that raised a total of 120’000 Euros thanks to the participation of 20 teams which featured organisations such as FIS, OeSV, Audi, Longines, Eurosport, future Worlds Organisers Vail 2015 & St Moritz 2017, Milka, Deichmann and others. One of the most exciting pairings was the duel between former champions Didier Cuche and Kjetil Andre Aamodt which sent the crowd of 3000 cheering wildly, and even more so when Cuche performed his famous ski flip. "I am very happy - this is the first race I have won since my retirement!", Didier Cuche commented after his run.

The race was won by Team Eurosport with Didier Cuche, Jean Pierre Vidal, Kari Anne Saude, Claudia Morandini and Vincent Wieser, a child from the local ski club. 2nd place was taken by Team Gösser featuring Harti Weirather, Michael Walchhofer, Thomas Reisenberge, Hans and Nella Knauss. The podium was completed by Team OeSV in third, with Stephan Eberharter, Roswitha Stadlober, Anton "Jimmy" Steiner, Rudi Huber and Mariella Schwarz.
