FIS Alpine World Ski Cup Bansko 2009 - LIVE !
From 28th of February to 1st of March, 2009 Bansko ski area will host the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup downhill and super-G races for Ladies. Organizers are Bulgarian Ski Federation and Bulgarian Ski Pool, with the support of the State Agency of Youth and Sports, ULEN and Municipality Bansko.

GENERAL INFO
During the upcoming season Bansko will have the honour of hosting the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Bansko 2009 event which will take place between the 22-nd February and the 1-st of March. After 25 years away from the international ski scene, Bulgaria is returning to the world ski stage by hosting two events of the Womens' World Ski Cup.
On the 28-th of February and the 1-st of March 2009 we will see the Downhill and a Super Giant Slalom take place on the Banderitsa Track in Bansko. These are two of the most attractive and exciting events in Alpine skiing and will pose a big challenge for both Bulgarian competitors and the world's leading skiers.

Winning the opportunity to host the Womens' World Cup with stiff competition from other contenders is the highest accolade Bulgaria could receive from the International Ski Federation (FIS).
The confidence placed in Bulgaria to host this event proves that the country can work actively to efficiently develop skiing as a popular sport at home and on a world scale.
This support from the International Ski Federation is paving the way for Bulgaria to regularly host a number of future world class skiing events.
After holding the two European Cups for women and for men, in 2007 and 2008 respectively, hosting the Womens' World Cup confirms Bulgaria's prominent position as a host of major international ski competitions.
The expectations for 2009 are for Bansko to attract at least 10 000 spectators and other visitors and fans of Winter sports from over 30 countries.
BROADCASTING
The event will be broadcast live by the Bulgarian National Television (who hold these rights) and on satellite channel 'Bulgaria'.
