New rules for winter vacations in Tirol - hardly any restrictions for vaccinated and recovered people

During a press conference in Vienna on November 5, 2021, new rules for the further approach to contain the Corona pandemic were presented. These came into force on Monday, November 8, 2021.

Due to the current incidence of infection, measures have been tightened again. These hardly impose any restrictions on those who have recovered and been vaccinated. For the unvaccinated, on the other hand, there are significant restrictions.

Here is an overview of the most important new measures:

- 2G regulation (Geimpft/Genesen - in English: Vaccinated/Recovered) in gastronomy, hotel industry, culture, leisure and care facilities, in services close to the body and for cable cars.

- Scope and exceptions to the 2G rule:
o The 2G rule applies to all persons after the end of compulsory education in Austria which is at the age of 15.
o Excluded are people for whom vaccination is impossible for health reasons.
o Excluded are all children under the age of twelve.
o Austrian adolescents up to 15 years of age are exempt, provided they carry a valid "Ninja Passport" (school test) with them. This doesn't apply for foreign countries systems.

- Transition periods for the 2G rule:
o For guests who are still present in an accommodation establishment at the time the new regulation came into force, the "old" rules apply until the agreed departure date.
o For persons who only have an initial vaccination, this will be valid as 2G proof in the next four weeks in combination with a current PCR test.

- 2G rule in cable cars:
o 2G detection will be mandatory in cable cars (ski lifts and gondolas) starting November 15, 2021; mask requirement will be eliminated.
o Exceptions exist for sports teams and people who rely on cable cars to meet basic needs.

- At events, the 2G rule already applies from 25 persons and an official notification requirement from 50 persons.

- 3G rule at the workplace and exceptions:
o In the workplace, the 3G rule applies in general, the mask requirement does not apply.
o There is a transition period up to and including November 14, 2021. During this period, an FFP2 mask can be worn for the entire working time instead of the 3G proof.
o For events with 250 or more people, the 2G rule also applies at the workplace.
o For employees of discotheques, clubs, après ski etc. (night catering), the 2G rule also applies. (night catering), the 2G rule also applies at the workplace.

- FFP2 mask is mandatory in all trade and everywhere where previously the mouth-nose protection was sufficient.

- Green passport: this is now valid for 9 months after the 2nd vaccination, after which a third vaccination (booster) is required. Johnson & Johnson is only valid until January 3, 2022, after which a booster vaccination is required as proof of vaccination.

- Validity: all measures are valid as of November 8, 2021, throughout Austria for persons 12 years of age and older.
