. world ski news : Doris Guenther and Matthew Morison victorious in Limone Piemonte - 15 December 2008 - 16:33

Doris Guenther (AUT) and Matthew Morison (CAN) won the season's first parallel giant slalom in the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup. The Austrian succeeded in the strong international field and dominated the thrilling final in Limone Piemonte against Kimiko Zakreski (CAN). Anke Carstens from Germany came in third ahead of her teammate Selina Joerg. On the men's side Matthew Morison relegated Sylvain Dufour (FRA) to the second place. Morisons teammate Jasey Jay Anderson captured the third spot on the podium ahead of Austrian Manuel Veith.

The Canadian team was obviously satisfied with their strong performance: "It was a very tough competition day today, it was snowing a lot and the sight was bad. When I first touched base with the race track though I realized it could be my day", Morison mentions. "It is amazing to be part of such a strong team", Morison, now owner of the yellow bib in the parallel World Cup adds. Team colleague Jasey Jay Anderson too was very satisfied with his position: "It was a tough race against Manuel Veith and I am happy about this third rank. It was really fun to race this course despite the bad weather conditions".

Doris Guenther, who is riding astrong so far, could not be beaten in Limone: "It's going really well at the moment. I can do whatever I want and it works out well. After I already won the PSL in Landgraaf, I was counting on a good result. Now I obviously hope this success will continue." Canadian Zakreski was surprised: "I still can't believe it I was racing so good today. The weather was extreme, but all volunteers did a really good work and a competition could be held."
