In the Val Gardena downhill, Michael Walchhofer repeated his win from last season, where he had claimed the last downhill victory for the strong Austrian men's team. 0.38 seconds behind, Bode Miller (USA) returned to the podium which was completed by another North-American, Canadian Manuel Osborne-Paradis. Altogether there were 7 North Americans, 5 US Americans and 2 Canadians in the top ten.
