. world ski news : The Verbier High Five by Carlsberg 2010 will take place on Saturday March 27 - 09 March 2010 - 21:14

The Verbier High Five by Carlsberg marks the end of the "White Circus" and this celebration has taken place each year in Verbier, Switzerland for the last ten years. This year, it will happen on March 27 and many stars will attend the event. Switzerland's recent Olympic champion in downhill, Didier Défago will compete along with the Canadian Manuel Osborne-Paradis (2nd in the downhill in Wengen in 2010), the British Chemmy Alcott (more than 160 World Cup starts), the Liechtenstien skier Marco Büchel (winner of the Super-G in Kitzbühel in 2008) and Luc Alphand of France (Winner of the overall World Cup 1997). More announcements will follow soon.

The concept of the Verbier High Five by Carlsberg is based on combining professional and amateur skiers and snowboarders. The invited pros compete against each other, but also with some 350 amateurs, from which the best after the first four competitions make up a team with the "Champions" in the finals of the parallel slalom. For all, including the media and the public, the High Five presents a unique opportunity to ski, or simply exchange some words, with the pros - all in a relaxed and informal "After-ski" atmosphere.

Below you find a description of the five competitions that will be held in Verbier:

The Giant Slalom
An 800 meters classic giant slalom with a variable descent. It is long enough for the Pros to express their talents and for you to be challenged.

The Speed Monster
A well prepared downhill course with an instant speed-gun at 120 meters. This might be your chance to beat the Pros! A guaranteed emotional and adrenaline kick!

The Big Bad Boarder Cross
Are you bad enough?
A 400 meters race in a 4 by 4 skier/boarder cross format. Some challenging high turns and plenty of obstacles.

Carlsberg Triathlon
Three secret activities that will test your After-ski skills. Serious experience required.

Parallel Slalom
This is the Final!
Head to head duels between Pros and the best-ranked amateurs. It will take place after the first four competitions have determined the rankings.
