FIS. More than 1'000 participants representing 74 National Member Associations have registered to participate in the 47th International Ski Congress in Antalya (TUR), from 30th May to 5th June 2010. The 2010 Congress will also see a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the very first International Ski Congress that was held in Christiania (later renamed Oslo), NOR on 18th February 1910. A commemorative book with a review of the first centenary of international skiing will be presented at Antalya.

Returning to Turkey for the second time following the FIS Congress in Istanbul in 1988, the international ski family is pleased to follow the invitation of the Turkish Ski Association. As part of the Congress week, the FIS Council as well as the various FIS Technical Committees and Working Groups will convene from 31st May-3rd June whilst the FIS Congress (General Assembly) itself takes place on 4th June.

The organizers of the FIS Ski Flying World Championships 2014 and the 2015 FIS Alpine, Nordic, Freestyle and Snowboard World Championships will be elected by the FIS Council on Thursday, 3rd June. The candidates (see below) will present their projects to all Congress participants from Monday to Wednesday in the customary exhibition and have a final opportunity to present to the Council on Tuesday 1st June as well as to the Technical Committees. The announcement of the elected organizers will take place at the Sheraton Voyager Antalya Hotel, Resort & Spa on 3rd June at ca. 19:00 local time (18.00 CET).

Representing the highest authority within FIS, the FIS Congress will take place on Friday, 4th June. It will review the business reports of the Council, the accounts and reports of the auditors, approve the budget, elect the FIS President for the next four-year period and 16 FIS Council Members for a two-year period, as well as decide on the proposals submitted by the Member Associations and the Council. A record number of 26 candidates are running for election to the FIS Council.

The items on the agenda of the FIS Council in the days prior to the Congress include the final approval of the FIS World Cup calendars for the 2010/2011 season as well as reviewing proposals submitted by the Technical Committees following their meetings. Some main topics will include the revision of the competition format for the Alpine Nations' Team Event that was piloted at the FIS Alpine World Cup Final in Garmisch 2010, and the proposed integration of the wind and gate factors into the rules for Ski Jumping, as well as the competition management of the Nordic Combined discipline. The main work of the Council will focus on the Congress Agenda in order to deliver its opinion on the various proposals.

The 46th International Ski Congress was held in Cape Town (RSA) in May 2008. The 48th International Ski Congress will be held in the Gangwon Province (KOR) in May 2012.
