"I had won all the races before that last one," said Anderson. "I was three-quarters of the way down so I only had to cross the finish line to win."

"I was too aggressive and I messed it all up. It's sad because I'm losing big points in the World Cup standings and I didn't get a podium. I simply lost a victory."

Other Canadians competing included: Drew Neilson of North Vancouver, B.C., placed sixth, Francois Boivin of Jonquiere, Que., 11th, Robert Fagan of Cranbrook, B.C., 25th, Tom Velisek of Vernon, B.C., 33rd and Derek Wintermans of Port Coquitlam, B.C., 57th.

In the women's event, Dominique Maltais of Montreal was 12th and Dominique Vallee of Montreal was 26th.

Doresia Krings of Austria captured the gold medal. Second-place rider Carmen Ranigler of Italy and bronze medallist Deborah Anthonioz of France rounded out the podium.
