. world ski news : Club5+ Alpine organizers convene in Annecy - 29 September 2010 - 22:51

ALPINE. Members of the Club5+, an organization that brings together 14 FIS Alpine World Cup Organizers, gathered this week in Annecy for a workshop to discuss the important issues facing the Audi FIS Ski World Cup.

"The aim of the Club5+ is a strong Alpine race sport at the highest level of quality that is achievable", said Club5 President Srecko Medven.

The Club5 members covered various current and future issues including an exchange of informationwith FIS led by Secretary General Sarah Lewis and Chief Race Directors Günter Hujara and Atle Skardaal. The workshop also included a visit to the Salomon facility for mountain equipment research and development with several presentations related to sports marketing and ski racing in particular.

This year's workshop was co-hosted by Club de Sport Val d‘Isère (France) and Lake Louise Winterstart (Canada) organizing committees. The 2010 workshop took place for the sixth time after previous meetings in Kitzbühel, Kranjska Gora, Venice, Wengen and last year again in Kitzbühel.

Club 5 was founded in 1986. Today the members of this group of World Cup Organizers are Kitzbühel, Wengen, Garmisch, Val d'Isère, Val Gardena Gröden, Alta Badia, Cortina, Kranjska Gora, Maribor, Lake Louise, Schladming, Adelboden, Kvitfjell and new this year St.Moritz who joined Club5 for their first meeting.
