FIS. More than 40 participants representing 27 nations belonging to the FIS Aid & Promotion program gathered from 9th-11th September 2011 in Budapest (HUN) for the 10th FIS Leaders' Seminar.

Following opening addresses by Hungarian Ski Association President Klara Kaszo, FIS Council member Dr. Sung-Won Lee and Secretary General Sarah Lewis, the first part of the program included lectures on liability and insurance issues at ski and snowboarding events. Representatives of two insurance companies discussed the items to consider by event organizers. In the second part, a representative of a FIS Ski World Cup Organizing Committee from Switzerland, Andri Schmellentin, presented their concept on how to increase enthusiasm in support of organizing events through volunteering. The presentation was followed by a case study from Kazakhstan, where the 2011 Asian Games were held. The concluding lecture reflected the upcoming inaugural FIS World Snow Day, which will be held on 22nd January 2012, and was presented by FIS World Snow Day Assistant Andrew Cholinski.

Klara Kaszo, President of the Hungarian Ski Association, was pleased with her experience. "It was a great seminar. The highlight was the chance to exchange information and experiences with colleagues from the other NSAs. I really appreciated having a chance to host such a highly respected event in Budapest. I hope this event will be followed by many others in Hungary."

Irina Achba, Georgian Ski Association summarized: "The seminar was really interesting. Information about the liability problems in organizing events was very useful. Also the presentation on the World Snow Day was a highlight. The enthusiasm of the presenter happened to be contagious, so we in Georgia are motivated and hope to soon start planning and come up with an interesting idea to join the World Snow Day celebration."

Josef Zenhäusern, FIS Aid & Promotion Consultant, concluded: "We are delighted to see that at this year's seminar, the representatives of FIS Member Associations again showed high interest and engagement in participation, and especially the insurance topic led to broad discussion. We are glad that this topic was presented by two experienced speakers who provided excellent recommendations and assistance. The outstanding hospitality from the Hungarian Ski Association must be underlined, which enabled to successfully stage this seminar in Budapest."

This year's seminar was organized by the FIS Aid & Promotion working group, chairman Paul Michaelidis (CYP) and member Joseph Meiner (ISR) together with Josef Zenhäusern, FIS Aid & Promotion Consultant, and Sarah Fussek, Coordinator of the A&P program.
